research difficulty with High Command

One problem with High Command when using the build queue is that the build queue eats all your resources due to building units as soon as the resources are available, without pause, so when one goes to do research, there are not enough resources to start the research. This problem has been made worse in 1.5 owing to the fact that research now uses the same resources that are used to build common units. Currently, the only way around this is to delete everything on the build queue to allow resources to build up enough to do research.

My recommendation is:

Option 1 (preferred): Allow research to be added to the build queue.

Option 2: Add a pause button to the build queue.

A Pause function is on the list of convenience features that we are looking at. I can't estimate if or when it comes though.

A possibility to put research into the same queue is technically not really possible (it having its own queue would be more feasible) or at least harder to do than a pause, so we probably wouldn't do this.

For the time being I can perhaps offer a workaround (though I know this doesn't work in all situations): Queue very expensive items and put them into position 1 of the queue. This will prevent the cheaper icons following from being started, perhaps giving you the opportunity to start your researches.

>>> Queue very expensive items and put them into position 1 of the queue.

That doesn't work. I've done it already.

The big item starts, drains your reserves, and you're stuck again.

Anyway, why can't research go into the same queue? It uses the same resources. How can it *not* be in the same queue? We can still look at the research (portion of) the queue on the research tab. It's not going to mess up the UI.

And why aren't upgrades in the queue? How am I supposed to save up for those? I'm finishing maps without bothering to upgrade anything because it's a hassle, and when I happen to find a unit that I want to upgrade, there are no available resources. It negates the whole upgrade feature.
