Researchable Transport Trucks

Now that researchable transport ships have been implemented, I would like to ask the same things for transport trucks. Some may remember that I created a thread like this some while ago, and I would like to draw attention to it again. Trucks, like any other vehicle in the war, went through a major improvement, going from a top speed of around 20km/h to around 58km/h. also, the trucks should be affected by terrain the same as tanks and armoured cars.

Interesting proposal. Would this affect the speed of conventional (towed) artillery? Conventional (non-motorized) infantry? Conventional (non-self-propelled) anti-aircraft? Rockets? Aircraft ground convoys?

If this affects conventional infantry, what then is the difference between conventional and motorized infantry regiments?

Also, can anyone justify the top-end non-motorized speed for conventional infantry (25 kmh)? That translates to roughly 15 mph, or a 4-minute mile, which some of you sports fans may remember was not attained by a distance runner in athletic kit on a measured track until 1956. Seems rather improbable that even U.S. Army Rangers or SAS commandos could achieve such a speed in battledress and carrying weapons and equipment, let alone maintain a 4-minute-mile pace for hours on end. Even more unlikely is non-motorized infantry dragging towed arty, AT or AA guns around at that same 4-minute-mile pace. In real life, guns were obviously towed by a truck or jeep over any meaningful distance. Perhaps if Nuke's truck proposal is implemented, the base speeds for conventional infantry, arty, AA and AT should be reduced, and then increased incrementally with each level of the new research for the new convoy trucks.

I think the justification for the Infantry speed is that they are running around in simple troop trucks...not on foot. It's not the same as the faster jeeps of the motorized battalions which apparently represent having mounted light and mid-caliber arms on their vehicles. And the much faster Mechanized Infantry run around in armed and armored troop carriers and burning their petrol as fast as they can.

As for the AA and AT guns, it makes sense that they start slower and move up in speed as they're being pulled by less-efficient transports which do get upgraded. So it would also make sense, then, that aircraft running around in land convoy mode should be able to go a little faster as the truck technology improves with the non-SP Guns.

For that matter, wouldn't it make a whole heck of a lot of sense for the slovenly Railroad Gun to get a HUGE speed boost when traveling through a province that has Level 3 Infrastructure which is represented by a Railway track? The existing Level 3 speed boost (+50%) is puny when added to a base speed of 12. Hello...It's a RAILROAD Gun!!!

For that matter, why in the heck can a Railroad Gun even board a naval transport??? Think about it, you're trying to move a huge locomotive-driven railcar with what is essentially a battleship cannon onto a Merchant Marine ship. And, ironically, that travels faster at sea than the Railroad Gun does on land...even in a province with the level 3 Infrastructure of railroads.

Why, if you ask me, it would seem that a Railroad Gun on the deck of a Merchant Marine ship should pretty much give that ship a huge offensive advantage...essentially like a simplistic Battleship...with only one big cannon.

Somebody shoot me...with a Railroad Gun. Of course, by the time you bring it to bear, I'll be long-gone.

It seemed like such a waste to destroy an entire battle station just to eliminate one man. But Charlie knew that it was the only way to ensure the absolute and total destruction of Quasi-duck, once and for all.

Oops, I did it again.

Yes, we need a definite change to the game. Level 3 Infrastructure represents adding railway tracks throughout a province. Therefore, the speed of land units in a province with level 3 Infrastructure should be enhanced by a much larger percentage (i.e., +150%, not +50%).
