HOW DID HE GET POLLS
CarKing the 6th of the Abrahamic Caliphate
I was playing as Argentina when I noticed that leveling up my Tactical Bombers to Lvl 6 from Lvl 2 cost the same as from Lvl 5 to 6. I had spent a lot of resources beforehand keeping my bombers up to date and I'm just now realizing that I probably just wasted thousands of manpower and resources. I think the upgrade cost should be consistent with the current level and the level you're upgrading it to. This makes the most sense.

HOW DID HE GET POLLS
Oops, should have voted no. This makes total sense, your giving your soldiers the same equipment, plus it adds another layer of strategy with skip upgrading.
Why do the newbies get this shit and we don't-Carking the 6th wrote:

When this guy is driving some prehistoric tank, you don't give him all the other models you had in between, you just give him the fanciest stuff straight away.
True, why give the T.Rex bone spikes when you can give it the shoulder rockets instead?K.Rokossovski wrote:

Btw I forwarded the issue that apparently only new accounts can create polls (?).
YES THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU ARE THE BEST
I sympathize with this post. It does seem unfair. And it's not just about replacing an old tank with a new tank. There is support equipment, training, ammunition. Different comms systems. Different tactics. The older the unit, the bigger the difference from the new unit, the more time and money it should take to do the upgrade.
The support equipment is gonna be the same no matter where itβs at first, no? Youβre not adding on to your shovels and medkits, youβre getting new ones! Same with ammunition, comm systems. The price to get new ones will be the same because you are generally replacing them. As for tactics and training, not sure how they would cost that much more, and even if they did why would it be a bigger difference? The thing is this is all most likely a complete change, not an add in and upgrade to all your equipment. It would cost the same no matter what.z00mz00m wrote:

Imagine upgrading the US Air Force from the F18 Hornet to the F35. Now imagine going from a P51 Mustang to an F35. You really think there's no difference?
Sherman to M1A2 Abrams, same as M1A1 to M1A2. Seriously?
Yes, if you completely replace their equipment there will be no difference anyway⦠and the technological advances during the war were far larger in scope that these Abrams anyway, often requiring such overhauls. My point? If you are switching everything, then yes; it would cost the same amount.
That's a valid point, but I think that the way the research is set up now is final. If everything was cheap then there would be no playstyle, and doctrine bonuses would become completely obsolete. On the subject of research, I would vouch for automatic/free upgrades of units as seen in Iron Order and I think S1914. I have found it impossible to even upgrade infantry past a few levels while still maintaining my army and economy. Every single playthrough I go bankrupt and get into debt from other countries which I take loans from. Maybe get rid of the costly upgrades, and keep the reward and value of high level researches. Don't forget that when researching, the technology in question becomes more and more advanced and fabrication can become extremely expensive. I'm no expert on mechanics or manufacturing, but I know more than most, and when you get into extremely efficient or advanced equipment stuff gets incredibly expensive due to time, labor, skill, rare metals, and the operating costs of certain machines.
How about this. Decrease the manpower cost of higher level units. Sure, they cost more money and more resources because the manufacturing gets more expensive. But make higher level units more manpower efficient. This will provide more incentive to invest in research.
That could work. Historically army sizes to population ratio has decreased with technological advancement, right? Ukraine right now is fielding only about a million soldiers MAX, while in the past countries with 40 million people would field armies in the sizes of millions during a total war. Of course I donβt see Bytro changing this any time soon, though. This might also have the unintended effect of leading to even more huge armies in the late game, as the main limiting factor of manpower would now be reduced.
IMO that would be a good thing. It would mean that the winning player or coalition could finish the game more quickly, covering more front lines at the same time.
The incentive to research is the benefits they bring, even if a technology is advanced the manpower needed will still be massive because you are still using WWII era fabrication and research.
