The gold mechanics arent broken its just how it is. i see your points youve been making but units cant be healed while in combat
Rigged mechanics [Gold]

this post will not only be a rant about gold, because I saw many previously, but also include suggestions at the end to solve this issue.

Allow me to give you a quick overview of what the player experience is for someone who joined a few months ago after seeing advertising from a youtuber on this game !

-> Player of Supremacy 1914 in the old days, I was more than pleased when I saw an add for this game and the major improvement made in term of research, units, diplomacy and the speed at which the action was occuring. Once I started the tutorial, I was already quite perplexed about the gold mechanics shown that were way more aggressive than in the previous game, but I gave the game a try anyway
-> First few weeks in and first games, everything went surprinsingly well and not sign of crazy wallet monkey in any of my game, it was fair game and strategy all around. A great time in any regards
But this is where everything started to go to hell, when I decided to start 4 games in mid november on the event "Free For all".
So 4 games where I invested time and effort, I even bought the high command to support the game.
In those 4 games, at least one player was able to ruin it for everyone else by abusing the mechanics that are not adapted to gold usage in any way. I am not talking about 10.000 gold usage, this is nothing, I am talking one man that went so far as to use between 3M and 5 Million gold in 1 week to clear the map. We had to unite 10 vs 1 to finally beat him. This is only one example, on the 3 other games same case, people using 100k Gold or more a day to;
- Produce unit in front of you, in a city under artillery fire, when outsmarted by a move
- Insta building fortification, repairing them or upgrading them when under artillery fire
- Saving all his stranded planes in convoy by rebuilding aerodrome everytime a city is hit by any kind of damage
- Healing troops engaged in artillery combat (which is 90% of the game)
- Healing planes that were outsmarted by patrolling mechanic, and buy back to full health every hour
I also heard that before the 1.5 version, it was possible to heal troops during combat...? How can it be ? How aggressive can the Gold "Ego" boost be for a player getting addict to this rigged system ?

SIMPLE Suggestions;
- Add a timer to any city, unit, plane involved previously in a fight (taking damage) before gold can be used for any action mentionned above
Seems simple, but would solve any issue in a STRATEGY game where outsmarting your ennemy is the main gameplay, is it not ??
No doubt it was already suggested, and if not, how can it still not be implemented after so many years ?
The foundation of this game seems strong and no doubt that people would still buy gold and high command pass to support the game.
On those good words, I am out and will keep an eye from afar on this game which is definitly not a good experience for a new player coming in in its current state.

The reasons it hasnโt been implemented have to do with whether it is sustainable for Bytro as a company to do this. Gold is a major source of their revenue, and eliminating some features of gold would decrease revenue for them.

Biased and easy argumentation to get out of the rabbit hole... but in the end, still no game at all if I have to get away from it due to this major issue.
Quite sure that the calculation was already made about retention rate of new player VS assured revenue from people addicted to gold usage. However I doubt this is taking into consideration the montly income from new high command pass , smaller transaction for gold and missed recommendations to friends. Guess it's probably still worth it from what I could see in only 4 games this month, some people can't handle being beaten and will spend again and again until their ego can be boosted. No timer or daily cap ? Still better and put those people into a loop where they already spent too much to stop spending.
Nasty and aggressive ! ... but guess it's to bad for me, long live the heavy lifters and games rigged from day 1 !
Bytro has considered all of these forms of gold changes, and found that all of them reduced revenue and werenโt sustainable. They took everything into account, including High Command.

Keep in mind that gold users keep this beautifull game free for the rest of us.
Buying High Command however is a great way to support the COW community without losing the strategy aspect.
The Free for All event is notorious for gold use because there are huge gold reward. I had a 2nd place in that event and received 50K gold. In this same event alliances join this event which is supposed to be a solo map and work together to destroy the competition in order to win the nice gold rewards for the top 3. My advice, just choose another map.
Most strategy and MMO games make their money with that minority of players that can't stand to lose and will do anything to win. They don't want to be outsmarted because it makes them feel stupid. They have to win so they can boost their ego even though by doing so there's no more strategy involved.
Every now and then you will meet a golder which is perfectly fine if you know how to deal with them:
- By looking at the newspaper you can see when someone is most active. Attack on his downtime because even a golder needs to sleep.
- Expose the golder in the newspaper so that he gets attacked by multiple players at the same time and gives up.
- Be a flee in his pelt because the more you push him the more money he will spent the more happy Bytro will be.
- Or you can just archive the map and start a new one.
- Once you have won a couple of maps or events you have a nice stockpile of gold saved up yourself so you could just outgold him as well.
