I highly doubt Bytro will implement it although they could have a new map where each player has a small sector with a customizeable AI to themselves and some land, multiply that 100 times and you have the map, of course some of the features like newspaper and coalitions will be disabled or only show your own. The players can't move to other sectors nor can the other players invade their country, and they can opt in/opt out of the game at any time.
Sandbox Mode
With the new 1.5 stack system and all the new updates coming with 1.5, there is a whole new way to think, strategize and prepare in the game. Changing the meta and micro aspects is a lot to take in and I propose a new sandbox mode to test these new updates.
What I am suggesting is the creation of a new mini-game mode, most likely solo. All would be needed is a small map with the features to create or add whatever units you wanted to experiment with, structures to be built, terrain adjustments etc. on a small scale.
If you have every played Age of Empires they have a "scenario mode" where you can test out unit compositions and counters with the terrain challenges. Or if you played Halo they had they have a Forge mode. I won't pretend that this wouldn't be a massive undertaking for the Bytro team however it would not have to be that big of a design as the aforementioned games. Just a couple of provinces really and the ability to add units to experiment with.
I strongly think this type of mode will be beneficial to all levels of play in the CoW community. Instead of testing this out in a real game where you are trying to win, you now have a "consequence-free" arena to mess around with.
I am unsure of the name: Sandbox mode is a generic game mode but you can call it whatever. I list some names here just to get the ideas flowing.
- War Games (probably the most historical since that was what military officers call their training exercises)
- Training Grounds
- Practice Mode
Please let me know what you all think of this I am very interested in the feedback.

Awesome idea, as you mentioned this would be a huge undertaking but this would be great for testing different types of strategies!Tribunate wrote:

"Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak." - Sun Tzu
That sounds great.
Someone please recommend it to the Devs
Perhaps they could even make it possible for you to almost just make yourself a map.
If so it would only need to be VERY small scale. I'm talking MAX 4 provinces just to play around with.

Your basically asking for a way to test out units. Maybe it should just be a battle calculator instead. Instead of having to go through an entire battle. You could just specify the units on both sides, the condition, and the terrain. The battle calculator will automatically calculate it for you.
@DxC made a battle calculator, but I don't know where he went...

Dxcalc hasn't been updated for 1.5. Someone should really use the email he attached to it.
The biggest issue for this would be the coding aspect. It would take an immense amount of effort to create a sandbox mode. If it does happen, it will most likely be only for HC members.
As for DxC's battle calculator, it's a great resource, but unfortunately it's for 1.0 only. If someone made a battle calc for 1.5, that would be awesome!

If someone could access the code for Dxcalc then all we would have to do is change about the stat
he added a 'contact me' emailRBoi200 wrote:

I remember it but it was only unit on unit? Doctrine, terrain bonus etc would need to be calculated. I'm fine if someone has that.
I just thought it would be more creative and fun to actually play "in your own sandbox."
I won't pretend I know anything about coding so I'm sure it's a lot of work but maybe on a very small scale?
terrain bonuses did apply.
but play in your own sandbox would be great.
Can anyone give the link for the battle calculator?
No it only works for 1.0
