I know, a player gave me but I lose
Sandbox Mode
With the new 1.5 stack system and all the new updates coming with 1.5, there is a whole new way to think, strategize and prepare in the game. Changing the meta and micro aspects is a lot to take in and I propose a new sandbox mode to test these new updates.
What I am suggesting is the creation of a new mini-game mode, most likely solo. All would be needed is a small map with the features to create or add whatever units you wanted to experiment with, structures to be built, terrain adjustments etc. on a small scale.
If you have every played Age of Empires they have a "scenario mode" where you can test out unit compositions and counters with the terrain challenges. Or if you played Halo they had they have a Forge mode. I won't pretend that this wouldn't be a massive undertaking for the Bytro team however it would not have to be that big of a design as the aforementioned games. Just a couple of provinces really and the ability to add units to experiment with.
I strongly think this type of mode will be beneficial to all levels of play in the CoW community. Instead of testing this out in a real game where you are trying to win, you now have a "consequence-free" arena to mess around with.
I am unsure of the name: Sandbox mode is a generic game mode but you can call it whatever. I list some names here just to get the ideas flowing.
- War Games (probably the most historical since that was what military officers call their training exercises)
- Training Grounds
- Practice Mode
Please let me know what you all think of this I am very interested in the feedback.

How did he obtain the numbers? Could try to create one but would need those.

If we could access his code then recreation would be easy.
It's never that easy...whowh wrote:

If you could access the code (it seems to be python) all we would have to do is create a new armor class, change some stats about, and add some new units.RBoi200 wrote:

and you'd need to add doctrines plus any new hitpoint and damage point changes since the big updates
hmm... seems to be a lot of if statements...

who said it would be easy?
The thing is.. once (or if) the sandbox map idea is created. We wouldn't need to have someone else doing all the hard work to create a new calculator.
Any new update or bug fix that Bytro rolled out would be realized in real time when you started a sandbox mode.
I'd even vouch for it being either purchased by gold or only be available to HC members. I would definitely buy some gold or get HC to have access to it.
Maybe 10000 gold to get a 30-day sandbox game?Tribunate wrote:

I'd just make it a HC featureRBoi200 wrote:

YEa 10k seems really high for only 30 days.
Make it High Command only and I guarantee more people will purchase HC.
Best idea ever
I dont see why would there need to be time limit for sandbox round. Just make it as offline round and add option for reset and stuff, make it soo units produce automaticly (without production time) and all resrch done. Just make it as experimental round... Add option to edit enemy units and stuff and option to chose what speed you want.RBoi200 wrote:

not fair!DoctorDR1 wrote:
The biggest issue for this would be the coding aspect. It would take an immense amount of effort to create a sandbox mode. If it does happen, it will most likely be only for HC members.
HC is very cheap if you buy it for whole year. Dosnt mather where you are from, or how old are you, you are able to spare 50$ for it. It helps the game and it helps you too.
+ you would get this awesome benefit! But I think the developers would put a hard pass on this because of the discussion around "modding" game creation modes.
