In the game, there are some nations which will always be weary of naval invasion. Turkey being afraid of Greece, or vice versa, Egypt being scared of Syria crossing the Suez Canal, and many more in game examples. To defend, there aren't many options. You can either have a stronger navy than the enemy, or hide submarines on your coasts and pray the enemy doesn't detect them.
I suggest Bytro add another naval defensive tool to the game- sea mines. As I imagine it in my head right now, it could work as a static emplacement on a point in the water, only being able to be deployed (or moved if the player simply wants to move a mine somewhere else) by a minelayer ship, which would also be something new that is implemented.
Just like submarines, a way for the enemy to detect sea mines would be to use mjnesweepers (which also would need to be added).
I don't think that the implementation of sea mines will change the overall game in a big way, but I think it'll generally improve the game as a whole, adding a new tool in the player's arsenal.

There are a few flaws with this. To begin with, this would require an entirely new game mechanic, which leads to this being a bit overcomplicated and difficult to implement. In addition to that, sea mines are kind of already in the game. It's the reason why ships have to always go a specific route. All the others are blocked. Essentially, they already exist.

I agree with @Donk2.0. To implement this, you would have to determine territorial waters, and what parts of the ocean belong to what nation. You shouldn't be able to place sea mines halfway around the world right on your enemy's coast.
This would thoroughly change the game and make it more convuluted. Agree with @Donk2.0 and @RBoi200 in this case. Maybe is a callofwar 2 is ever coming out this could be executed along with cargo planes, field hospitals, coastal artillery, land mines, bicycle infantry and flying motorized infantry with lasers coming out of their wheels. As far as this is going on, I feel it'll never be implemented here.
