We can't actually do that.oceanhawk wrote:

What do you think about on the introduction of naval mines in the game?.
Requirements: -Base Naval level 3.
-Industrial complex level 1.
-Infrastructure level 1.
Objective? Defending the coast against submarines and destroyers.

that you can have patrol, and then add patrol?

Yes, with a time delay (the wait feature).oceanhawk wrote:

well, something like that is neededQuasi-duck wrote:

You would need to have a base to patrol from (like planes). So that the sub would have to go back if cancelling the patrol?
I didn't think of that. Is it possible to make the ports like airbases, kind of like in Hearts of Iron III?wildL SPQR wrote:

I don't know.. it was just a suggestion.. Or make it so that patrols can only be within ~100km of owners coastline.. or something..
But I still fail to see the use of a patrol?
The submarine has a good viewing range, so just make a line of subs around your coastlines and you're golden.
This is problematic. It is fine if you are, say, Germany. What if you are the US though? Or you are playing the world map and you have conquered all of Africa, or America again?wildL SPQR wrote:

Like I always say, you can never have too much submarines.Quasi-duck wrote:

Unless, of course, they are driving your economy into the ground so you cannot build land forces. We should all know that submarines cannot assault Moscow. Hell, not even Dublin.Paramunac wrote:

I am content with my economy. And following sentences are true. I am just now sure how they have anything to do with my statement. Naval units don't assault cities. They provide support to convoys and stop enemy navy to support their convoys.Quasi-duck wrote:

But you can't assault other cities if you have only subs, thus making you have "too much submarines".Paramunac wrote:

Why would I have nothing but submarines? That would be stupid
Back to what I said earlier, to defend your massive sea borders.Paramunac wrote:

Spies work better than subs.
Not for sinking convoys they don't.
For seeing if your enemies are invading you spies sure works better than subs
What if everybody is your enemy? Like in Players leaguewildL SPQR wrote:

True, but spies can't stop an invasion.wildL SPQR wrote:

I like the idea of minefields in the game, but laying them should be a province upgrade, kind of like naval fortifications. An accuracy note would have to be that mined paths can damage your ships just as well as your enemies. Incorporate a minesweeper unit as a counter to the development to maintain balance. If you really want to give offensive capabilities to the mine weapon then that should be a secondary option for your destroyers / submarines who were primarily responsible for mine deployment during WWII.
