Simpler Icons

This is a mess (see attached image). Can't we just make it simple and perhaps a bit bigger?

What? I don't see the issue

You planning to have fewer provinces, as S1914?

"I came, I saw, I conquered" Written in a report to Rome 47 B.C., after conquering Pharnaces at Zela in Asia Minor in just five days; as quoted in Life of Caesar by Plutarch; reported to have been inscribed on one of the decorated wagons in the Pontic triumph, in Lives of the Twelve Caesars, Julius, by Suetonius.
"Alea iacta est" Gaius Julius Caesar.

whats the issue here?

Apparently, it proposes fewer provinces.

I'm uncertain what OP meant as well. It would be cool if units were NATO symbols instead of graphical representations. Serious wargamers would rather have simplistic unit icons than marching cartoons. May save on system resources at the server and our personal computers.
