Slower 1.5 Map Speed

I've played 1.5 on and off for several months now, and gotten used to some of the changes. There are some things I still don't like, but can deal with, like unit upgrades. But there is one aspect of the game that I cannot deal with: the speed of the game. Everything happens too fast, and the game requires too much of my attention throughout the day. That makes the game incompatible with real life.

There is no workaround. No getting used to this. You have to create slower speed options on 1.5 maps. At least 2x and maybe 4x, considering the extra work required to maintain production queues and upgrade units. If you simplify some of those mechanics, then maybe 2x could be sufficient.

We can argue about everything else until the cows come home. But the game speed is a deal breaker. It's not sustainable. People have lives outside of CoW.

this is the businesss model. By having you on more they can make more money off of ads.

But yes, I agree. It is way too fast. I also don't like the game timer. I like having a few games where I can have OP everything.

Wtf no?

It's certainly not too fast on 1X speed. The first 4-6 days is really boring.

But if you play the world map, there is a lot to do. That's true, but that's nothing to do with speed.

Look, I don't want to criticize anyone.

Play how you want to play.

Play 10x maps and stay online 24 hours a day.

We always had the option of different speed maps in 1.0 and it was great.

Everyone could have what they wanted.

But the default 1x speed in 1.5 is much faster than 1x in 1.0.

My request is to bring back slower speed options.

For all of you who like faster maps: ENJOY

But don't take away maps that I can enjoy.

That's all. Thank you for listening.

How is there any difference from 1.0 to 1.5? At 1x speed a day is still 24 hrs (or 23 hrs and some) as it was in 1.0.

To begin with, battles happen 2x as fast.

Next, unit movement speeds are about 2x greater.

Next, unit production is considerably greater (in some cases) although it's more complicated because it depends on doctrine and unit level. But production is especially faster at the start of the game when all units are level 1.

Then we get to indirect effects, like the amount of time needed to balance production queues.

Overall, in order to play 1.5 at the same level of efficiency as 1.0, the player has to spend more time monitoring their country. By my unofficial, personal estimate, it's about 4x more work to play 1.5 compare to 1.0 maps.

And this is not what I want. I'm not willing to spend that kind of time on CoW.

I see,

Well we disagree on that. I found it an improvement not to wait hours for units to move one pixel or 2 days for a heavy tank to be produced.

And we disagree that this requires more time in the game. On the contrary. Now you can faster see the results of your actions. This means that you can bundle more tasks in your online time and don't have to come back every 2nd hour to give new orders to a few things, and have endless waits for something to complete. Games become shorter and if you add all the time you spend, considering the amount of days, I think you will see, that 1.5 takes less of your time over all.

Of course it requires more planning, I give you that. But it is perfectly possible IMO.

Overall, I find that 1.5 has a much better flow on top of a lot more options than 1.0. Some of it is unrealistic for sure, but wtf? This is not supposed to be a WW2 simulation.
