So Much Metal, And Not A Drop Of Oil! (HWW Australia)

In a game as Australia in HWW, I start with 8 cities. You would think that would be enough to ensure adequate production of all resources, but NO!

I have an outrageously enormous surplus of metal, but hardly enough oil! Right now I am producing over TWICE as much metal than oil! What kind of resource balancing is this?

Bytro said that they "fixed the Oil shortages" in their recent update. Well I say "B.S.!" Look at these figures:

(Note that it is day 1 and all cities are at 70 morale)

Urban Resource Spread

Food: 3 cities (1 double, 2 singles)

Metal: 3 cities (ALL DOUBLES)

Oil: 2 cities (1 double, 1 single :wallbash :wallbash

Current Resource Stock:

Food: 3.4K

Metal: 9.2K (!!)

Oil: 500

Current Resource Generation:

Food: 655/hr, 15905/day

Metal: 920/hr, 22647/day

Oil: 425/hr, 11423/day

That is a TON of metal! And worse yet, I can't trade it for oil! The lowest available oil offer in the market right now is 15 money per oil, and the highest metal sell offer right now is only 2 money per oil!

So basically, I'm left with a gigantic stash of metal that I don't seem to have any need or use for, and hardly a drop of oil left. Naturally, I thought of building and leveling up the industrial complex in my one oil producing double production city, but guess what that requires, OIL!!! :cursing:

As Donald Trump might say, I have a "YUGE!" amount of metal.

Why on Earth would a country start with THREE double production cities of one resource and only one for each of the other two? That makes ZERO SENSE!!! C'mon Bytro! It doesn't take that high of an IQ to figure out how to properly balance the three resources. Give two resources two double production cities each, and the resource that only has one double production cities should get more single production cities to make up for it.

Phillip Bosley's proposed redesign of Australia's urban resource production:

Food: 3 total cities (2 double production cities, 1 single production city)

Metal: 2 total cities (2 double production cities)

Oil: 3 total cities (1 double production city, 2 single production cities)

With 100 morale and base production in all cities, we get:

Food: 2(6000) + 1(3000) = 12000 + 3000 = 15000/day

Metal: 2(6000) = 12000/day

Oil: 1(6000) + 2(3000) = 6000 + 6000 = 12000/day

MUCH BETTER!!! Note that these numbers are for base production value (without industry) and building the industry wouldn't be a hassle because guess what? You now have enough oil!

Bird brains...

God, I just wonder what the resource spread is like for major powers like the Soviet Union and Germany...

ZoomZoom only can play 22p maps with 5 players from same alliance if they have 10 players from same alliance they try play to 100p map one time in a year and talking here about playing game correctly , it is funny

outside of ships , metal is useless you don't need many metal to produce artillery or infantry you will have always metal stock which you cant use and no one want to buy them from you , you cant produce even rubbish tanks without oil

Shortages of resources are SUPPOSED to be present in any scenario, right? Why are you asking Bytro to stop dumbing down the game and at the same time you ask for a starting resource balance that allows you to play without thinking about balancing resources. Something quirking here!

I will talk about world war map 100p , there are 11 province to produce resources if you have only 2 oil province some of them rural and if you are not an island country especially if you are at asia basically continent have a very big area to fight and protect , what will you do to balance resources ?? spamming battleships ? can you produce planes while trying to build industry ? you have no oil you can have 1 million metal it is a dead country

while you are thinking about oil shortage greece north usa egypt UK are enjoying having 5 oil province

mostly submarines are better choices and guess what , submarines need oil

did you try to find oil from someone while playing as solo ?? it is impossible even at 100p map

yeah you can produce ships with borneo even he has less oil , try to play with north ural as solo next time

and you shouldn't ask to people who cant join to games if they haven't 10 ally to start a game

if we talk about small maps , it is small everything is slow and less not special to metal

That so is NOT the complaint!

The point is:

- we get the Resources Ruined downgrade forced upon us with a twisted spin, as if it were an improvement.

- there is (and always was) a shortage of Oil for good players (and they always worked around it; it simply was/is a constraint)

but ...

- there now is a useless abundance of Metal in contrast to a relatively larger demand for Oil (bc there are only 3 rss left)

Thus what this downgrade factually does is increase scarcity.

The only purpose of this, is to entice players to buy rss with gold.

It is a cheap trick from the monetization handbook.

It is a downgrade of the game/product, while they try to push 'the price' up.

That simple.

But I will pay only for quality and many others think the same.

Yes yes, I hear you, but present me a starting scenario where metal is "useless" and oil is "essential". Please, I am looking forward to the challenge.

Literally every scenario has a huge surplus of Metal and a shortage of Oil.

Even when starting with a country like Yugoslavia on a Blitz map (the only scenario where I encountered a need for Metal and bought form the Market), any Metal issue is turned into surplus within Day 1, when you take Budapest and/or Sofia and/or Tirana.

There is not a recent game (and all victorious!), played on various maps, where investment in Metal production is a priority. Only when Food and Oil are exceeding Metal production by some 50%, Metal starts lagging.

The point is not that there are constraints, like Oil.

The point is the character of the downgrade, resulting in removal of an entire layer of gameplay and a mega-surplus of Metal vs a (relative) increased scarcity overall, due to only 3 rss-combinations needed for each and every building, research or production.

Now, for the big question: How is thus anything true of the statement that came with the release of the downgrade? (there are very good threads pinpointing all the bogus in that release).

Did anything they promised materialize? Is the game better, more fulfilling, enticing?

No, it is a lesser game in all aspects.

The thing that clearly has changed: an increased (relative) scarcity of rss.

And due to increased (relative) scarcity, certain players will be induced to buy rss with gold!

Hence, it all is just another move towards P2W-only. A shortsighted monetization campaign, which will kill the game in the long run. Or ... do you know of any P2W startegy game that lasted longer than 2-3 years?

So, if you support that as a player, you help digging the grave for this game.

Which country you started with ?

And... did your Metal situation still persist after Day1 or 2 or did it turn into a surplus already?
