Some of USA's Pacific Islands shouldn't be cities

Considering that Japan has no island cities in HWW (not counting Taipei), I think some of the USA's cities in the Pacific should be removed. The USA already has Hawaii and the Philippines, which should be enough given their approximate strength in 1939. But they also have Guam, Wake island, Sand island and other.

I think at least 2 of those 3 cities should be removed (i.e. converted to rural provinces). None of those islands were major production centres for American military at the time. And while we're at it, Guam should probably have a few more infantry units there, as it was the main American Pacific base at the time.

But that would make them less powerful in terms of land than the British, which Bytro has presumably tried to negate to nerf Britain.

In any case, in 1939 Japan was neither as powerful economically nor as industrialised as the USA; making it fair would be inaccurate . Albeit not production centres, these these were important military bases, Guam in particular. American Samoa had a permanent population, unlike Wake Island obviously, being a godforsaken rock. If anything Papeete should be a city.

This also gives the Japan player an incentive to attack the USA.

Bytro is not going to, and should not, amend the map to accommodate every requent.

Heck, it's just fine the way it is.

Much of what CrayFish said is correct. Fact is the US has huge military capabilities across the Pacific, and could use them all. I would agree it’s sad that Japan doesn’t have bases in the Pacific themselves but it sort of makes sense considering Japan never had anything like Wake Island, Guam Ect… the problem with changing cities is that It can mess with the way things are historically balanced, messing up the game in unintended ways. I would enjoy perhaps an expanded HWW, with more cities and playable countries, but even the current large size of HWW can’t handle things making the US that much weaker or Japan that much stronger or so on. Sadly sometimes things can’t be as perfect as you wish them to be, but things are Okayish the way they are now. Not to say that can’t be improved though! I love reading your suggestions to change HWW for the better, just that some of them are sadly not doable sometimes.
