I've had this thought after two world games I was in got depopulated because players were spamming gold to win with numbers instead of actually playing the game with skills: Why not open special rounds where the use of gold is not allowed, and do it at the same rate that normal rounds are started? People won't leave because of some [Mod deleted text] using the "Soviet tactic" of quantity over skills, because YOU CAN'T DO IT. I was wondering about the community's thoughts on this concept..

Community isn't just thinking about this concept.. They've been doing it for months!
Every 1st of the month, we start this Monday(Feb 1st) at 8:00 CET!

I don't think that thy will do such thing,
as thy want you to buy and use gold .

That's all fine and dandy, but what happens when a single person uses gold to the extent that a round depopulates itself because of that one player's underhanded tactics? A game needs funding, but it also needs people that are willing to play it, and the number of the latter is reduced because of the spammers.

Gold use is not permitted in Players League, if you're are found to be using gold there will be consequences.
People don't do it in my experience in Players League, I have only seen it once in the most recent World Map, though it was because a player joined the game very late and then he was already under attack so he thought it was OK to gold some fortresses.
And yes, we are currently playing a closed-off World Map in Players League. It is with Elite-AI so you have to pay an entry fee of 5000 gold OR you can join for free if you have High Command. (you can't join this game now, as it is closed for new players)
how is not using gold enforced? how do you catch a player using gold in a game? are there announcements in the Newspaper or something when gold is spent?

Excessive gold use will always be able to tell...
No, besides it having a PW and being with Elite AI it is a normal map. No special tools for gold afaik.
I dont think that gold spammers are the problem , i think innactives like u Rogue_wolf , are the problem . U are already innactive in 2 of my games and thats frustrating
