I'm thinking something like a large slow plane that can carry 1 unit at a time, travelling around 130 km/h, that can only land on your own airfields, not able to take anything bigger than a medium tank (Even then, I don't really want it to carry armour heavier than a car)
As an example of the class of aircraft I was thinking about:
Placed in the Secret research tree and requiring strategic bomber level 2 research to have been undertaken. No ability to damage anything except air, 0.5 attack and 1.5 defence.
Now the issue I have is range. Ideally I would love something that would be able to island hop from the US to europe or africa, but even to me, that seems a little too much to ask unless it was kept as a very late research unit, akin to the time of the nuclear age. What are your ideas and opinions on what I've put down so far?

a fast response force is a good idea to quickly invade or response to an invasion, IF paras are added to the game this is the role i will give them.
based on your example, the plane will be very early since its a glider it can only carry a small tank (not light tank, small tank, like one person tank, whats there name?) it will be a nice tactical addition to the arsenal.
you could refer to the C-130 Hercules for fast tank transport but that's all i got

I did say sending them to friendly only airbases, and the very low stat line does make it quite difficult to attack anything with it, although it would become a viable way to reinforce an army that captured an airfield
I was also thinking about upkeep costs, probably 200 oil, 50 grain. Same grain costs as the strat bomber, but a lot more oil. Similar as to the heavy tank or battleship, bearing in mind each unit consists of many planes, especially considering that an infantry unit is 1250 soldiers.

It would be a good idea if this game was a game about, say, the 21st century. The Messerschmitt 323 was an extremely insecure aircraft and many crashed. But I recon you could put it. I don't know, it's up to the devs.

There were some pretty decent transport aircraft from the late 40s (C-47 and C-123 Provider) but since we do have jets and the late game heads into the Cold War era, it's not too hard to envisage something like the C-5 Galaxy (first flight 196
And here is the wiki link to a bigger list, you can order them by date of first flight, tonnage and cruising speeds.

Ok, so we could put them in. But personally, I wouldn't use them much. ! troop doesn't really make much a difference in the grand scheme of things.

Could we attach an RG to the 323? I have an image of the product. It is the ultimate ground attack aircraft.

RG? You mean railgun? Yeah, looks good

Yup, maybe a secret Tac Bomber?

^ ....so, it flies backwards?!

No, it is a tactical bomber with a RG on the bottom.

I do like the (original) idea !
But perhaps they can also create a late version to move more troops/tanks ?
3 Jul 2015, 23:26
I would like to have air transports, Id use them to a degree if they were put in game. At the very least most countries could move troops by air, moving heavy vehicles by air however was an advanced concept that only major countries could preform.

Heck if we're talking about attaching a rail gun on a plane I rather see flying tanks!
I do like the idea of air transporting units like infantry, tanks will be limited to LT or AC, and some field guns.

The flying tank is the Russian IL-2.

Good point on the tanks, maybe:
1942- Day 20 infantry and light guns. (maybe ACs)
1946- Day 28 Light armour, motorised infantry and ACs
1950- Day 36 Medium armour
Not able to carry: Heavy tanks, Mechanised infantry, Railguns, any naval or aircraft unit

And how many ?
as in capacity ?
4 Jul 2015, 21:18
This is a bit off topic, but here it goes: Kalantigos, in the Second World War RP, which of the two USAs do you want to be?

I would say a 1:1 ratio, 2 would be pushing it.

I think 1 or 2 tanks should be ok.
But INF should be more ?
Depending on lvl ?
4 Jul 2015, 22:59
No, it takes a hell of a lot of aircraft to carry 1k troops, more is just stupid.
