Currently on "aggressive", units will not move as long as enemy is within range. On "Fire At Will" they will march to current destination then start firing if enemy is within range. It would be useful if there was an option "Stop, fire, continue", which would cause units to stop and fire at each firing tic and then continue on their march.

It would be a great upgrade, this suggestion should be implemented.
"I came, I saw, I conquered" Written in a report to Rome 47 B.C., after conquering Pharnaces at Zela in Asia Minor in just five days; as quoted in Life of Caesar by Plutarch; reported to have been inscribed on one of the decorated wagons in the Pontic triumph, in Lives of the Twelve Caesars, Julius, by Suetonius. "Alea iacta est" Gaius Julius Caesar.

Should be added, I like the sound of it

It seems like every unit is on a "reload" time before they can deal damage again, it makes me frustrated because if you are trying to some serious micromanagement you can never tell when they will actually deal damage again.
yo, what did the pirate say to the parrot? ... he said, ARRR you y- i'm a cracker..? ahem.. s-sorry.. i'm not.. uh.. very *good* with uh.. y'know jokes. I don't know .. um, yeah i guess i uh... will just give you a quote! yeah.. thats what i'll do.. a quote.. ahem.. here's the quote: "We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light."

Now you can, every hour damage is dealt, And hover over the unit, and it shall show how long till next attack

I don't agree. See, if I have 10 artillery units on aggressive moving towards a target, then I don't want them to conquer the province before they have killed all resistance in the area (and province center).
If they move forward every hour, into the destination, they might reach it before the enemy garrison is killed, and then they might get killed.
I don't always want this behavior but I want the option to use it when appropriate, which is very often for me. I will usually know whether or not they can kill the defenses before they get there, based on current damage and travel time. It is better to keep moving if you can. Sometimes there are also targets to the side that you don't want to hang around and kill but wouldn't mind taking a shot at along the way. Also you don't have to target all the way to the enemy, but you can keep moving up to some target point you would like to reach that may be nearer than the bombardment radius.
It's how I generally handle movement manually anyway. You could also run away stop, fire continue which I do fairly often also. From Bytro's perspective I think it would motivate people, that see the benefit, to pay for High Command.

High Command needs more benefits. They have already made Shared Intel perk virtually useless with the Coalition update.
I would be okay with something like this being added to High Command.

You can do this on your own, it's just a matter of being online and actually doing it.
I don't think we should add this as it is basicly a function for the lazy.

Yeah @StrangeTalent@wildL SPQR, calling it a function for the lazy is like saying cars are for lazy people. I don't have the time to be on 24 hours a day, no one does(well, a few *ahem* "pros" will)

not arguing anything, just saying that because you are on 24/7 doesnt mean you are a pro..
otherwise, as you were

I know. I wasn't trying to prove that point, or any point, I was just trying to be sarcastic. (hence the *ahem* and the quotations around pros. )

I think the simple solution here would be to allow an add target command for arty just like other units. I'm aware it would be a major change though and thus not very simple due to how ranged combat is handled by the engine.

Technically, I suppse one could could add target with aggressive enabled? That would do the same thing, wouldn't it?

"Problem" is, for these busy people, that the ranged unit won't advance while it is bombarding the enemy.
Well, it's not really something you would usually want to set then go to work for 8 hours. I would mostly use it when I was online, but it would help avoid having to set a bunch of timers to tell you when to stop and fire. Artillery are already super fun to use and this would make them even more fun and would be a big motivator for peeps to buy high command. Lazy people probably wouldn't use it or would use it incorrectly and crash their ART into tanks.

But what's wrong with the way it is? Currently, you can set your artillery on the march with agressive stance, and they won't move into the destination until everything has been killed. Safest method altogether.
