Strategic bombers are much better now

A while back strat bombers had their ranges increased and the damage tweaked.

Having tried to use strat bombers since joining, I have to say that now I feel that they are worth it. For specific purposes, granted, but now they have a niche and unlock certain options in the warfare that wasn't really there before.

Keep it there, Bytro!

At the same time though, I still think that the morale mechanism (rebellions) needs refinement. Strat bombers are innocent bystanders of this problem.

This is what strat bombers can reach on the Pacific map at level 5. I wish I had the time to research level 7. It would have been another 400 km range, but as can be seen here, if you control Hawaii, there is no more a safe way to bunker down in america with battleships and railguns...

Just curious, but what are you going to bomb there? They're still nmot really great against troops..

I did bomb. As a surprise attack on the coastal player.

You are right that they are not great against troops, but that's not the point with them. I wanted to test their strategic potential.

I had about 14 of them and started using groups of about 5. In a single attack, they could obliterate all buildings in the target zones. When there were no more buildings in range, I switched to groups of 2 to do morale bombing. In one day I managed to make 3 or 4 provinces rebel - one of them a city.

See?

Unfortunately the game ended, and that's sort of the problem with this unit: The game is usually over by the time you research the higher levels of strategic bombers. I find lvl 1 to 2 quite useful in the competitive phase though.

We could join a game together some day if you want to see what I mean?

Oh I know about strategic bombers since their last buff, but I was referring to using them in the Pacific. Usually not much to do on these islands, their first take with a battleship and usually undefended after.

No.

In the screenie I posted, level 5 bombers took about 45 mins each way. So I'd guess 1 hour each way for a lvl 7.

German high command absolutely salivating at the sight of those trans-Atlantic bombers lol

Sadly there is no way to trade units in this game. It would open up a whole new strategy as arms dealer if there was :)

Just imagine a noob german selling there army to Poland......

Made without nuts
I want my lawyer

It would be really interesting but unit trading would be immediately abused by people with multiple accounts.

It used to be allowed, then was disabled exactly because of that.

Like how? I did not write 'transfer', but trade. Ofc the receipient should pay something. And perhaps on the market with a minimum price so you cannot just give it to yourself.

Well you could transfer a unit and ask for a price in return. I don't really see the difference.

Big difference. If the unit is sold via a market, someone else might pick up your bargain offer :)

It could be an auction for example so that there will be time for others to discover the offer.

And at what price? Everybody sort assumes so far that you can just set the price at 1 money or something. Who says so? The game could set a minimum price because the economic cost of units can be calculated anyway.
