It's called scorched earth and it's been suggested several times.

Strategic Retreat
I think during a strategic retreat I should be able to destroy buildings and air fields so my competition cant use them. If i was in a real war it is what every general would do.

But they are similar. If you want more unique game, play Iron Order 1919, it's got lore and not many players

the problem is that you HAVE to do a battle, no matter what, adding a retreat feature would make the game more strategic.
I think the retreat should not be done automatically, but still

You only have to do battle...when you choose to.
How you do that battle is also a choice.
