Suggestion: Standing orders

As far as I can see, this suggestion has just barely been touched(?)

One thing I like about HC is the ability of ranged units to be given fire orders. This enhances the game for especially the off-line time.

I would like to see a similar option for most or all forces to give them standing orders. There could be a number of fixed orders to give - similar to how it works for targeting.

One could be 'avoid combat'. A unit that has an enemy unit in sight, will stop moving.

Another could be 'Fall back'. A unit that gets an enemy unit in its sight range will move to a predefined point. That point is set by the player just like any other movement, except is only used when an enemy unit enters the radius.

A third might be 'charge'. A unit that spots an enemy unit in its radius will move forward to initiate combat.

I guess more combinations could make sense, but I think it should be kept simple. Previous suggestions have been something like scripting, and I think that kind of thing does not fit in the game.

Yeah, a good suggestion... some orders that spring to mind for air units:

Extended patrol - patrol any enemy units within the current unit range (current airfield)

Evade - Patrol, but get back to base (or, a different patrol location?) when any enemy plane circles overlap

Destroy - pick an enemy unit, patrol it (and change position as it moves) until it is dead, then return to base

Save - change base when it is about to be overrun

I feel that the members with High Command would get a too big advantage in the end. On the other hand it would make paying for HC more attractive and fund the game.

Another option for land unit - fall back but monitor (stop when the next movement would get out of sight range).
