super weapons

i know, someone may say that we already came up with this idea for the game,i was wondering how long and how much would like a super tank or something to manufacture, i was thinking like the Landkreuzer P.1000 Ratte or who knows

We did talk about it, but if about the "Rat" then:

I would say it will take much longer to build and more expensive than the heavy tank, it would have double its stat value making it a monster of a unit, realistically it can't move and an infantry walking can easily get away from it but because this is a game I would guess the speed will be 20km flat.

I totally support this.

A single Ratte is 1000 tons.

Thats 20x a Tiger. A single Tiger takes aprox 14 days to build, in a full operational production line. A Ratte might take 280 days.

Its the same as a small frigat. In ww2 those took about half a year to complete. A Ratte is more complex though.

Thats for ONE Ratte. But landunits are regiments. A regiment of heavy tanks would be 150 tanks. So a regiment of Ratte's would take 10+ years to build. Or you would need multiple factories.

What if I'm indoctrinated and actually fighting the good guys?

no, 1 Ratte would be at least a battalione or even a regiment, cause it was concepted to be a landcruiser (not one from toyota).

They don't exactly build a flotilla of cruisers instead of just one, now do they?

in this gane every ship is a single one, you can see that by used manpower.

In case you thought I was disagreeing with you, I wasn't. I agree.

Ships are single units.

Tanks are not.

If you want it as a single unit, it wont work as 'super heavy tanks'. It will be more similar to a railroadgun, on tracks.

Long range firepower, but easily killed by both groundtroops and aircraft.

it would consider a "land ship" because ships are single units because of the size of the Rat we can agree that the Rat is more of a land battleship than an actual tank.

Though the concept of a this type of superweapon is wonderful, there is a real credible reason why it only remained a design and concept art. Put quite simply this tank would not have worked for three very simple reason:

1. The cost of building would have been inordinately prohibitive.

2. The total mass of this land based behemoth would have not allowed it to move utilising even current drive train assemblies, (let alone those available in WW2)

3. The power supplied by current diesel/petrol based engines would have been insufficient to provide locomotion for this vehicle, simply scaling up parts and engines in size is not necessarily an answer and its fuel usage would have been astronomical.

This tank remains one of those wonderful curiosities of war that look great, but aren't workable.

well put

Considering the Ratte was never finished or built in World War Two, we like to try and stay somewhat realistic. In my personal opinion, adding the Ratte would kinda compromise that.
