Surrender Option

There should be a way to surrender giving all your territories to a nation or coalition. Right now if you want to surrender you have to simply abandon the game or watch all your armies destroyed and territory taken.

I suppose you could trade your capital territory, but there should be a simple way to surrender, having your troops disperse (and equipment destroyed) or giving them over to your enemy.

That would unbalance the game. If someone surrenders to your enemy, you could be screwed.

True, but that's real life isn't it? Hitler faced that with Italy in WWII. You have to encourage your allies to keep fighting.

If someone really wants to surrender and handing over his territory, all he has to do is withdraw his troops and let the enemy march in - where is the problem?

You can also already give a few key cities & territories.

buildings get damaged in the process and it can take time to take all provinces.

4 per game after day 8. not quite the same is it?

This is one of the worst proposed game changes ---- ever.

This is a competitive war game. The object is to win the game by conquest. I see nothing but a potential for abuse in this proposed change. If you think multi-account cheating, wolfpacking and the like were a problem before, those problems would expand several fold if this change were implemented.

True,

the way I see it the OP has not been playing long enough to see the dark side of the COWs

There could be a surrender function... But usually surrendering is the same as making a ceasefire or peace trade, which can already be done. Giving up the land is not what usually happens with surrenders... Surrendering means you make partial concessions to the enemy while still remaining alive as a nation.

I would much rather be able to destroy buildings so that my land was worthless to the enemy than give them everything on a silver platter.

Maybe just the land? Say you surrender, ALL items belonging to that nation are destroyed, or heavily damaged, and then the player can rebuild it or just ignore it at their leisure.

@temmie1: The "land" determines who wins the game. Victory points are assigned to the various territories of a country; the cities have more points, and the capital cities have the most. And other territories get 0, 1 or 2 points. The first player to get 60+% of all of the victory points on a map, wins.

That's why surrendering your land to another player is not permitted. You can trade provinces, within certain limits, but you cannot surrender or give away your entire country.
