Not sure if this has been brought up but the game seems to lack a spy function that can possibly aid a country in :

Knowing what the enemy is researching in its labs , Delaying the ongoing research , Cancelling a research progress , or even degrading an executed research ( infantry lvl2 to inf lvl 1)
