Technology For Convoys

Ive been seeing a lot of people talking about troubles with convoys when stopped by a enemy ship. It is grounded to a complete halt when attacked. And is picked off easily. I have experienced this as well. It has led me into thinking of ways we can change the functions of convoys. There should be a technology(s) for convoys. Level 1 convoys can be the same as the ones we use now. Level 2 can have increased speed or maybe an defensive attack against attacking units. With level 3 being an increased amount and such. What do you think? Do you think it could work?

I respect both BBB and Sir McSquiggles oppinion as for now i must agree with McSquiggles those convoys on land or see are just siting ducks that is fine if that was FAST DUCKS! Buth their movement is more like a turtle so upgreading moveing speed is something i vote for nice idea and i liked it by the way...As for the fighting power it is bunch of drivers who tries to get to the goal as fast as they can their point is not fight...Again i respect both of you guys and i hope i didn't insult anyone :)

You one of the many reasons Sealion didn't take place? The convoys would sitting ducks if the Royal Navy and RAF weren't taken out.

Look i agree with you realy but i also like the idea of making some research that would in late game make convoys go faster not a big amounts of increasments but any faster late game means development so i gues convoys should be part of that development as well if you know what i mean... With respect and love your Foxx :D

Hrm, faster convoys? I like it, long as they are weaker. Speed is armour(not really)!

As u alredy said i don't think that convoys should be given any increasment in strenght they are convoys after all but McSquiggles gave idea of research that would make convoys faster and MAYBE stronger if i understood him i agreed with idea of just making them faster...

Only faster. Only faster.

i think getting convoys move a bit faster is ok, but nothing is wrong to them.

It's the "suggestion/criticism" thread.
Yup. You make a suggestion, we criticize your suggestion. If we didn't lots of bad suggestions could make it into the game, and nobody want's that.

As far as I can tell azeroth2b and Sir McSquiggles win this one. The only arguments I see from the forum trolls are "you can't have it your way, it's not like that in real life, it would be unfair, it's perfect the way it is." When the reality of it is that Azer and McSquiggles have it right. You should be able to upgrade your convoys to some degree.
It is perfect the way it is. Fun > Needless added content

I am assuming that you understand that in game development, a mechanic that significantly imbalances the game is a broken mechanic. Like the Black Lotus. I've laid out my claim as to why I think the decision "breaks" the game. You're free to disagree, but my word choice is both intentional and accurate for the claim I'm making and the knowledge domain we're discussing.
It doesn't "imbalance the game." A strong navy can easily clear the way for convoys. Also, your enemy faces the same problem with slow moving convoys as you do, and you can just as easily sink his convoys. In the end, it all comes down to player skill.

I think a new naval unit is needed, especially for convoy stuff.

British=best. Duh!

what we need is new ships not a landing craft.

Yeah, they were slow. However I think what you should be able to research is Convoy Screen. Convoy Screen Level 1 is a couple of Escort Ships, you don't see them as they are part of the convoy. Convoy Screen Level Two is again couple of Escorts, but also a few Destroyers as well. Convoy Screen Level 3, the escort ships are gone replaced by Destroyers and a Cruiser. Convoy Screen Level four again Destroyers but two Cruiser, level 5 like level four is just destroyers but four Cruisers as well, and level six again Destroyers, six Cruisers, plus one Battleship. These ships are automatically set to Fire only if Fired Upon. So yeah the screen will only attack if attacked first.

Convoys were units very important transport in the landings, but at the moment are good.

What does that to do with this thread?

This seems like something worth the devs time.

But in all seriousness, I think I support convoy technology back in the day. Its not a bad idea...it would be difficult to implement is all. Convoys have a basic defense attack though.
Convoys are fine as they are.

There are other more interesting projects.

There are other more interesting projects as the marines.
I don't care, I think this is a better proposal than marines.
