The AI should attack the garrison units in the province instead of the province itself.

When the AI attacks the province instead of the garrison unit in the province it gets really annoying since your units get damaged but the AI's units get less damage done to them compared to if they were to attack the garrisoning units in the province. And since defending deals more damage, if you then make the garrison attack they would lose, when they had a better chance of winning if they were attacked directly.

when the ai attacks, it shows attacking [province name] instead of attacking [unit name], and the garrison unit in that province does not defend against the attacking unit, rather it says waiting in [province name]

I really don't understand what you are trying to say. Are you talking about garrison units being damaged during rebellions at day change?

Don't worry, you are not the only one

And also, don't attack if AI or either players if ur provinces is being attack than your stationed units, your units are already defending that provinces. Just wait.

What you describe as result is not true, your troops will deal the same amount of defensive damage to the enemy aircraft no matter if it attacks the province directly or the army stationed in the province. This is due to all attacking units dealing splash damage in a 5km radius, and all units in that 5km radius dealing defense damage back.
