The effect of barracks on manpower supply is confusing

I found the way barracks work confusing. You can turn them on and off and this has an immediate effect on the supply of grain, but no apparent effect on manpower supply. I have been told that when you turn a barracks on, or off, the manpower supply does not change until midnight.

Is this correct? If so, why are grain usage and manpower supply updated at different times?

Because, reasons!

I guess Grain is more important than manpower to the devs so made it update straight away.

Mess with the Bill, you get the scorn!

i somehow notice it as well, that manpower update doesn't immediately.

So, can I switch all my dormant barracks to full production just before midnight in Hamburg, gain maximum manpower production for 24 hours and then switch them all off again 5 minutes later to conserve grain? That would be fun, but a bit wierd!

I don't think that's how it work.

I've tried it out, it's only the display that doesn't update instantly. The background resource production does seem to work as it should.

Thanks ,that's useful to know. It would be nice if this bug was eventually fixed.
