The game direction- small rant

I don't really know where I'd drop this sort of topic, as its kind of a suggestion to the community, but not in a usual sense.

As things are going, I can see only a few more units that be added to the game that all fractions can take advantage of. That being said, unless we started adding fraction specific units, we'll be running out in about a year.

So, I think we need to decide which way we take CoW: do we move deeper towards the cold war, or do we cut ourselves off at 1947? Alot of new units can be brought in: helicopters, rocket subs- no one is saying full tech trees of these, but we have a 'secret' tab for a reason.

Also, many suggestions are made which get called "complicated" when in truth, they aren't. They're actually rather simple, but get poorly explained by members. Unless we, as a community, start building new ideas we're just going to be left with the same old.

I'd like to say that we're at the cross roads of CoW now, either we bite the bullet and start adding more features to the game (government features, new game modes, and i'm going to get around to posting about two new idea's I have, once I have a decent way of explaining them) or we stagnant like S1914 and wait till Bytro make another game, and watch our cycle carry on.

Leading on from S1914, I believe we should import several features from that game. S1914 has a great webiste lay out, its amazingly pretty. Our profiles look nicer, we have ribbons and medals: it building a good feel. The website is the first thing people see, and first impressions are everything.

Bytro says its mission is "bringing strategy to the people - and thats why I'd like to see some strategy. We had a great idea for 'Battle-plans' which many people likes, but some just claimed it was copying HOI4. Guess what lads and ladies, it hard to be original in this day and age. Sometimes putting a spin on it is the best we can do.

As a community, we have to think not only about what we want, but also whats best for the game itself. I personally dislike alot of ideas on a personal basis, but many of those ideas would be generally useful for the community.

So yeah, I'm not sure if this little post belongs in this section of the forum, so if a mod could shift it to the right place, that would be great.

On a private game with friends, my oil was at -890...i've spent the last three weeks dropping it to -516. This is what happens when you try to make German great again, and building 30 battleships in quick succession.

Lol, in one of my games I have enough TB to not care if they are striking large enough groups of high-ish lvl AA with meatshields, a big fleet of nearly 30 ships and boats, 50+ LT, about 10+ Mechinf and still have a couple hundred +oil and +grain left. This is with most of my barracks and harbours on :D

what I'd really like to see is a more in depth economy. trade routes and civilian convoys and recourse specific improvements.

What i think game needs is a completly new ranking system

I think just a general re-design of the web page, maybe like the S1914 one. This one looks kinda cheap (by that I mean the home page, these are my favourite forums :D )

I'd like to see the website layout from S1914 imported over, and maybe edit the rank system to feature a mixture of British/US ranks. I doubt Bytro could use Wehrmacht ranks

Yes. Just yes.

Trade routes, specialized buildings to increase production of each recourse (farms, oil rigs, etc), different types of government that provide different bonus, faction specific bonus on historical maps, and just things that make each round more different

This is what I have been waiting for my entire life. It's a little Hearts-of-Iron-ish, but it is very fun there and it should be fun here.
