Naval battles are fun though and the AI is completely stupid on how to properly handle them!
Too many naval ships created by A.I.
In my opinion A.I. Creates way too many naval unites... it seems like they create more naval units than they do ground troops to protect themselves.... example in the pacific map I am currently in, Burma (who isn't controlled by anyone) has close to 100 naval units but only about 50 units protecting the country itself.

Not totally sold on the naval battles.... seems like naval AI has the advantage even when they are out numbered/out gunned.
Also you kinda made my point, the AI doesn't know how to handle its navy and they obviously aren't programmed to think of keeping the country safe vs. keeping their water ways safe... kind of UNREALISTIC lol
Also why doesn't the AI invade each other/ smaller countries? Don't get me wrong, I don't think every AI country should blitzkrieg each other.... but some AI should attempt to fight their fellow AI neighbors and the people playing.
Devs slacked on the capabilities of the AI, they are about as smart as rocks and the Elite AI isn't any better really they just aren't as lazy.
As best I can tell from experience, certain AI countries are programmed with a personality and predilection for certain unit types, e.g., Finland builds a bunch of cruisers and populates the Baltic Sea with them, Ireland builds destroyers and subs and sends them to the southwest Italian coast, and my favorite weird example is Yugoslavia building cruisers and destroyers and sending them through the Bosporus and Black Sea to the Sea of Azov (WTF?). Given time, the AIs will also show certain production tendencies for ground units, too; e.g., all armored units are tank destroyers, some will actually build a tactical air force, and others will build dozens of fighters. I suppose the idea was to give players practice against a variety of unit types.Peachez wrote:

BTW, I hate AI cruisers because they are tough and costly to kill with destroyers or subs, especially when escorted by destroyers, and even more costly to sink with aircraft. The best way to kill cruisers is with a couple of upper level battleships that can hit the cruisers from outside the range of the cruiser's guns; your BBs need to be escorted by phalanx of DDs, however, because the CCs are faster and can run down and swarm your BBs. I've also hit AI cruiser stacks with a bunch of L3 or L4 rockets, which also works, and may be the cheapest solution if you've done the rocket research. I note, however, that using rockets is completely unrealistic -- V-2 ballistic missiles were simply not accurate enough to hit naval ships, let alone moving ships -- but in the alternate reality of COW world, V-2s are accurate enough and powerful enough to destroy entire ground units as well as ships. Plan for 2 or 3 rockets per cruiser.
