Trade embargo and cease fire relations

On the relations map mode, you can see who has gave you right if way, share map, and who you are at war. I was wondering why after all the time I have played is there no indication of trade embargo. I know this may sound a bit stupid but I would like to easily see what AIs are about to attack me. I think displaying this as an orange color would be a good use of the relations map mode as it's supposed to show relations.

In addition, I think that the cease fire relations is basically useless. Sometimes I use it in but overall it ends up being forgotten. In my opinion, cease fire should be a relation that lasts for say, five days then both sides go back to war. During the five days neither side would be able to break the cease fire. This would make the cease fire actually worth being in the game as in it's current state it's useless.

I know bytro that you won't do this but if you can change the ally color, why can't you make trade embargo an orange color or something.

You can see who has trade embargo on you in diplomacy. Even if it's ai still when you scroll down to the country it does show up in diplomacy.

The ceasefire relation is important, especially in a game like this one as it is what temporarily ends a war, it gives a sense of realism otherwise we would only have the option of a peace treaty to end a ongoing war..

The idea does sounds good. The limit of days in ceasefire can depend on the game speed and maps. Afterwards unless one of them attacks again the 2 countries can stay at peace.

Yeah, I know you can see it in diplomacy but idk, I feel like it would be nice to just look at the country and see it. :D

I don't understand how this helps to create a sense of realism. Any relation, from Cease Fire to Shared Intel, can be broken easily and immediately. The other relations offer real differences in game behavior. Right of Way allows your units to move through another country's territory without start a war. Shared Maps is RoW plus you can see units. Shared Intel is SM plus you can see spy reports. But there are no functional differences between Cease Fire and Peace. It's exactly the same behavior, with two different names. Cease Fire should not exist unless (and until...) it does something.

Realism as in. Imagine during the end of a world War both sides simply made a peace treaty. Yesterday the country was in an all out war and now bam we're at peace...so in order to end an ongoing war there has to be a offical ceasefire first before any further treaties are made. Some neutral relation between war and peace so combatants of all armies know to officially stop fighting. I like to join roleplay, trying to be historically accurate, playing like the real life events that took place, making articles in the newspaper about diplomacy, relations and more so i feel like the ceasefire thing is okay but I do agree that it should actually do something, like the author said and not be completely useless.

There's nothing realistic about any of the diplomatic options in CoW. The only effect of cease fire is to make players look for a meaning that's not there. We end up with this thread.
