Troop Stacking Limits

Limit troop stacking up to maybe 10 or so, otherwise players can stack all of their units in one spot and create and unstoppable mass of troops that can tear through all defenses. If we limit this, I believe it will add a better sense of strategy rather than players using the same strategy of invading with unstoppable forces. ?(

Creating super "doom stacks" is self-defeating, Ben, when the doom-stack player encounters someone who (a) understands SBDE, (b) employs run-circles-around-your-opponent tactics with artillery, rockets and other stand-off/ranged weapons, and/or (c) possesses nuclear rockets.

One nuclear rocket will typically kill 20 to 25 enemy ground units. One nuclear rocket will kill substantially more than 25 enemy ground units if there are several stacks within the blast radius, or the enemy units are in a state of embarkation, disembarkation, or sea-going convoy.

With proper tactics, doom stacks are just big, slow-moving targets.

There is a limit to how many units of each type are most effective per group, called the State Based Damage Efficiency.

Exactly as Vorlon and BB stated. There is no limit, but big stacks really are just easier to kill. You can choose to lump your forces into one of your provinces to counter their huge stack (forts help..) or out flank the big slow stack and hit the enemy core; hybrid of both is the common choice.
