Unit orders

Currently the only units that can have "standing orders" are ranged weapons, Artillery or Naval. They are only available to "High command" players. My thought is that if Artillery units can be ordered to stop and fire, then continue moving when enemy is gone or out of range, That there should be an option for all stacks to retreat from oncoming artillery units.

Right now, two players in a war and one has an artillery advantage. They both go to sleep and the Artillery player orders his units to advance. The other player wakes up and his stack is gone. Units should have an "avoid combat" option. This would work well for scouting and to avoid being bombarded.

This seems fair but would probably need to also be a premium feature as to not diminish the current premium perk.

Making it a Premium feature would not only give Premium players double the advantage, they would just spam ranged units from here on out

Your math is not mathing.

Units being able to retreat from artillery would make non artillery units more valuable.

Also, great idea. I would use it all the time.

I read that backwards, you are correct.

But then the counter-statement must come, where whould they retreat to? and what if the Ranged units are faster?

True, sometimes the only counter is to force march toward the enemy. It's a hard problem.
