I have noticed with some units it becomes extremely difficult to select them. Namely submarines and especially when they are near coastlines. Whether on the PC or mobile selecting them becomes almost impossible sometimes. Their "hit box" is just miniscule.
When on phone select another unit, then click add army and click on the "+" to add the sub and afterwards do a split so you only have the sub left.
On pc you hold your left and right mouse buttons and draw a grey circle around it, this way you can select it too. Another solution is to zoom out in your browser settings.
You learn every day, never knew the option to hold down both mouse buttons. It's a game changer, I was doing the old school way, hold down ctrl and selected the units.
