This has always frustrated me as well.
Unite planes on air again
for example you sent 2 interceptor to patrol an area
and you decided to seperate them , and sent one of them to another point to patrol in same range
after all of them you want to unite them on the air without going back to airstrip to refuel
but you can't
why ?

To do it would be OP and players would exploit it. I use my air in groups of 5/5/5 to 7/7/7 Int/Tacs/Att. If I was able to split and regroup them in the air I would be able to attack my enemy more effectively by selecting units to attack with depending on the target and then reform the air groups into target neutral configurations without ever having to land. Which btw to regroup I dont even have to wait and refuel since I was on patrol so all I have lost is the flight time to targets, as it is I go with neutral target configs so I have a good attack mix vs any target I run into.
"Anyone who has to fight, even with the most modern weapons, against an enemy in complete command of the air, fights like a savage against modern European troops, under the same handicaps and with the same chances of success." ~ Erwin Rommel
I've also wished this was a capability. Especially when I'm building planes and adding them to a patrol one at a time, I've gotta land the whole patrol, wait until the new plane refuels, then send the new bunch back out again.
Schmidt, I think similar split-attack-regroup capabilities exist with ranged ground units, so I don't think that mechanic in and of itself is enough to justify not allowing an "add to patrol" option. If patrolling is too OP they could cut the damage ratio. Maybe 40% damage instead of 50% damage each patrol tick to at least make more of a trade-off. As-is, patrolling is the best option 99% of the time.
I wouldn't say 99%, I'd say it is around 75%. Yes for net damage output, no for a variety of other reasons which were summed up in another thread I'm too lazy to look up right now.
Fair, I'm exaggerating a bit, but I think patrol is the rule and direct attack is clearly the exception.
I think regrouping, also in air is possible, planes can certainly do that. Is it OP, I dont see why, everyone can do that.
It is? Can you teach us how to do it???
I mean in reality, not in CoW, I never managedK.Rokossovski wrote:
