For more realism i think agood whing would be to implement a unit stack limit.
I saw a lot of battles where all army is concentrate in one stack. When attack this unit march in all regions. In this case the fortifications in more than regions are useless.
Also you can't make a defense strategy. If 2 big stacks meet, one will lose, and that country is lost...
It would be more interesting if possible to have maximum 10/20 units / stack . In this case the fight would take place on entire front, in more regions simultaneus.

It's usually done by players that have just enough sense to realize armies are stronger if you add units together instead of marching them all individually to your enemy. Overall it isn't such a good tactical move and fairly easy to defeat, so I don't see why it needs to be neutralised.
