User Names

To Whom it may concern,

I get really tired of seeing players that do not put in a user name and it lists user######.

I understand that the player must go in and change it, but there seems to be no time limit on this. I would like to propose that at some point, the player must put in a player name.

What I have found is that some players exploit this by creating more than 1 account to try and help their main account in maps. While I can't provide any proof to it, (hence why I have not ever reported), it is my belief that it does happen.

It also makes things confusing for knowing who is who.

Say you impose something that after they reach level 10, they must put a player name in.

Just my thoughts,

Hello @General cdub

TBH, I agree with what you are saying as there is no way of calling them. However, I don't see much players above level 10/private with user12345*** number

Thank you for your response Ryan,

There are plenty of them and I see them in every map.

Game 3,051,490 100 Player World Map

There are 11 players that have not created a User Name,

7 of those players are all above level 30. In the last 100 Player Map I played, there was a level 56 and a level 71. They tried to recruit me to their coalition and my simple reply was this,

Greetings Prime Minister user?????

Actually, I am not sure what to call you as it is evident that you may not know what you are doing or how to play as you don't know how to create a user name.

I appreciate your most generous offer into inviting me to join your coalition. I have to say that I must decline more in part sir that if you can't figure out how to create a user name, then how reliable are you going to be as my ally?

Second, I also notice that your coalition does not even have a flag on it, just a color so I wonder if you know how to do that sir. Third, I looked at your description of your coalition and it just says !@#$. Not even sure what that means.

I mean no disrespect to you as I see you are a higher level and you have been playing since 7/22/18.

I wish you the best,

I never heard back from him and in the end, I paired up with other independents on day 20 and our coalition went on to win.

Thank you for listening Ryan. You are a good man.

Users who only play from a mobile device do not have the ability to add a flag to their coalition.

Players who have not set a username do receive a reminder about choosing a name. If they ignore it why should they be punished? As you have demonstrated there are some experienced players who have ignored that feature for whatever reason. Perhaps they enjoy the appearance of being new much like a disguise. Only if you look closely do you realize they have more than a few days experience. Your proposal is to force players to change their name or quit the game as I see it, and what exactly would that accomplish? They would likely ignore those messages as well and end up frustrated when they could not continue their current games. This would be not be a service to the customers in any way.

If you suspect someone is cheating submit a report and use the category multi and a Game Operator would be more then happy to check in to it.

Greetings Vorlon and PrinceOfHonor,

I appreciate your replies. While I may not agree with them, I understand your point of view.

I for one do not like reporting unless I have something more than just suspicion. If someone gets vulgar, very insulting or something extreme, then yes, I will report it at times. What I have found in these cases though most of the time that if they are near me, it is faster for me to attack them and take them out of the game. Depending on my Military at the time, their positioning as well as the size of their country and military, I am able to do so with in a day maybe more. As it takes up to 2 to 3 days or even more for someone to review and take action, I trust you can see my point.

As far as how I react to these players, I am sure you would agree that I have the choice of who I ally with and for what ever reason I choose to do so or not. When I communicate with others in game messaging, I am always respectful. I believe you give respect to everyone even when one might not think they deserve it.

Again, while I may not agree with your reasoning, I respect your opinion as well.

With all due respect,

General cdub

I too, have seen players with the user#### with a 30+ ranking...and even a few 40+. This all stems from the fact that Bytro REMOVED the ability to choose a name at account creation a while back. I suppose this helps to preserve the "good" names for those who actually play for more than a few days, but it is also a benefit for the rest of us as I will demonstrate in the next section.

I have a very simple way to tell whether a user is experienced or not. At the beginning of the match, I send ridiculously-low lowball trades to each of them. Of those that don't go inactive, many — if not most — of them will accept the trades if they're truly novice players. The experienced ones tend to reject the trades.

Now, I'm particularly proud of this tactic, as I've found that if done with just the right crafted values, you can deceive even more-experienced players, as well as those who are barely paying attention to what they're doing....and those who've had too many to drink on a saturday night (this particular version is my uber favorite tactic for fleecing my opponent in a huge war ("I surrender, here are all my resources", and I hit them with a bunch of reverse-trades that steal their precious resources)).

This actually plays well into a psychological warfare that has gotten me massive amounts of free resources in some of my matches. Of course, this can backfire, also. I've had a few times where someone would complain on the World Herald and get pretty much everyone to band against me. But, like with any strategy, you have your risks. And sometimes they pay off, and sometimes they don't. And this strategy does tend to pay off most of the time....except for when they try to string me up.

Ah.....fun times, lol.

In most cases, this shouldn't be necessary, as the server actually does automatic flagging of suspected mutis, as it keeps track of the IP's of each player in a match and red flags duplicates which are then investigated by the GOs. But, it is possible to fool the automatic flagging, so a suggestive report can be helpful. At the same time, if some idiot is clearly too inexperienced to properly utilize their bungled multiple accounts, you might just invade them and teach them a thing or two about actual game management. Maybe then, give them a lecture on how the game is really played, and convince them to stop with the multis. I've done it, and I've even convinced a few of them to switch to a single account, all without having to report them.

Yes, preserving good names sound great! Also, I think people who have been inactive for more than a year should have their usernames placed back to USER.... so that that username can be reused. However, if they come back, they will have to choose another username if his old one is taken.

Maybe devs can set default value for player name, such as George, Richard. Better than user#########.

I disagree, actually. While I'm not one to go a year without playing, I have gone half a year (once) and I would have been p.o.'ed and royally mad, as in uber dragon fire pouring from my mouth as I consume you with a blaze hotter than the sun.

You don't touch my Devious Rancor. And @VorlonFCW, if you are listening, surely you must know that I'd like to do something else, something far more diabolical than that. If you ask me, "Devious" isn't good enough, if you get my drift. Any help on that front would be awesome, since the folks that make decisions at the top have changed.

Hhm, kinda like android designations from a bad b-rate sci-fi movie....Alex46, please ally with Debbie69. Johnny5, you are dead. Mike386 has invaded Travis2. Kevin3 has been defeated by Kevin4.

I agree with OP. Btw i was thinking that user###### were bots playing as if humans, good to know they are humans.

Yeah it seems to me as bad players that create a new account for the gold. Anyway that kind of players, dont really know how to use gold. Like wasting investigating 4 different thinks first day and so having one antitank and one special artillery.

Btw i found this conversation by loocking on google,i was curious about those users.

Congratulations for that new CoW,It just loock great. Im an old player,im playing 2 games RN and It seems a bit as a paradox game, its a great improvement.

It would be cool to have international games,so you can play against or with, people not only in my case against spanish speacking people. It could be advises as "international run" so english as common language.

I got an idea to make thegame more interesting, logistics. While your troops hace Direct Contact with the main capital city, then its OK . But say you are Sweden and conquer Denmark. So after 24 hours of Grace, player should do a port so there is conmection between the capital and the islands,or the other continent . That building to make submarines etc, that could be the logistic building.

So units encircled would lose 10% of health every day actualization

Congratulations again for that new CoW, it loocks great.
