Thread #10: Dynamic Fog of War & Scout Intel

Subject: [Suggestion] Dynamic Fog of War with Specialized Recon and Radar Counter-Play

Hi Dev Team,

Currently, the strategic map is too predictable. To elevate the strategic depth, we propose implementing a Dynamic Fog of War and Recon System based on building coverage and scout units, rather than just revealing the whole map instantly.

How it would work:

  1. Vision Mechanics: The map remains hidden in the Fog of War. Players can only see territories within the vision radius of their active units or specific Radar/Scout Stations built at their bases.

  2. RNG-Based Recon Units: Players can build specialized Recon Units (e.g., Space Marine Scouts, Ork Kommandos, Imperial Guard Sentinels). Sending them into enemy territory reveals hidden forces, but what exactly they spot should have an element of RNG (randomness)—sometimes they map out the whole army, sometimes they only find a rough estimate of enemy numbers.

  3. Intel Counter-Play (Stealth vs. Radar Tiers): The radar buildings should also act as a defense against enemy spies. If you have a Tier 2 Radar Station, it will completely block and alert you about Tier 1 enemy scouts trying to peek into your base. However, if the enemy sends a high-level Tier 3 Scout, they will successfully bypass your radar without sending any alerts or notifications that your base was searched.

This creates a high-stakes information war. You will never blindly know what the enemy is building behind their lines, forcing players to actively invest in intelligence and counter-intelligence before launching a major offensive.
