Thread #8: Warlords & Hero System
Subject: [Suggestion] Implementing a Faction Warlord & Character System for Deeper Strategy
Dear Dev Team,
Right now, army movements on the tactical map feel somewhat barren and detached because they are led by nameless, faceless markers. To capture the true essence of Warhammer 40k, the game desperately needs a Warlord and Character System.
Instead of generic army stacks, players should be able to field iconic or customizable leaders (e.g., a Space Marine Captain, an Ork Warboss, or a Chaos Lord) who physically lead the armies on the map:
Auras and Leveling: These characters should earn experience from battles, level up, and unlock unique passive trait trees or battle auras that buff nearby friendly units.
Equipment and Relics: Introduce a system where players can equip their Warlords with custom gear or faction relics earned through match progression, subtly changing their combat profile.
This would give each army a distinct personality. Players would actively care about their leading units, creating massive emotional investment (and monetization potential through character skins) every time a high-level Warlord enters a crucial battle.

I think it's wrong game format for something like field commander. I mean, how do you implement this? As another one infantry? So how exactly damage distribution will affect them? Or it will be attachment system. How it's gonna work? When unit with commander, attached to him, splits - where did commander go? How opponent commander can be killed? Etc., so many questions.

Wrong game format? Have you played WW3 ? There are commanders and officers who are pretty well developed. Same system can be implemented here and even upgraded further cough ...primarchs cough ...
