(i know this would be complicated)
We all know Earth is round and the flat maps are Mercator projections, accurate only on mid latitudes.
So i suggest a really round map, that would be more realistic.

Although it might be scientifically correct to use these maps - everyone is used to the map we have now in the game. It like your keyboard. It's designed to slow you down(to prevent old typing machine from jamming). But are you using an optimized keyboard layout?
The link that Geden has posted is not so different from the map we know that we would be lost. And it would suppress the enormous provinces up and down that are small in reality.
