An offensive can stretch across an entire continent, but its success may come down to one closely fought battle. Soon, you will have a new way to give your armies the edge.
Generals are coming to Call of War - our biggest new feature of the year. These historical and fictional commanders attach to your armies, providing bonuses that strengthen their capabilities and open new tactical opportunities.
Beta testing begins today on desktop and mobile, ahead of the planned live release in approximately two weeks. Read on to discover how Generals work, meet one of your future commanders, and find out how to apply for the beta.
Command Across Multiple Fronts
Call of War demands more than winning a single battle. You need to coordinate armies, maintain momentum, and react when a quiet border becomes your next front line. Generals are designed to support that style of warfare.
Each General provides two buffs that strengthen the army they join. These bonuses can tip close battles in your favour, making the right assignment an important part of your plans.
Our approach focuses on building a roster that lets you support several armies across the map. Different Generals create opportunities to strengthen multiple fronts and keep your forces moving. As the situation changes, you will need to decide where their buffs can make the greatest difference.
Deployment, recall, and recovery timers make those decisions matter throughout the game. A General committed to one offensive may take time to become available elsewhere. Planning their movements alongside those of your armies will help you keep the initiative.

How Generals Work
Generals attach to existing army stacks. They are not independent units and need an army to command. Their bonuses apply only to the stack they are attached to.
When you assign a General, a short deployment timer begins. Their buffs activate once that timer finishes. The army remains mobile during deployment, so you can continue moving while its new commander prepares to take charge.
If you need a General elsewhere, you can recall them. A recall cooldown must finish before they can deploy again. If their army is destroyed, the General also enters a cooldown before becoming available for another assignment.
Your Roster and Doctrines
For the beta and live launch, each doctrine will have three Generals: two Epic and one Legendary.
Generals can only serve armies of their own doctrine. When playing Allies, you can use the Allies Generals in your roster. An Axis General cannot attach to a Pan-Asian army, for example.
Each General also has multiple levels. Leveling up unlocks or strengthens their two buffs, allowing you to develop your roster over time.
Meet Konstantin Rokossovsky
Legendary Comintern General
A brilliant planner of large-scale offensives, Rokossovsky coordinates vast armies across difficult terrain without losing momentum.
His buffs reflect that approach:
- Motherland Calls: Increases the army’s stack limit.
- Through Everything: Units in the army are not affected by negative terrain debuffs.
Rokossovsky brings new possibilities to the planning of a large offensive. Choosing which army receives his support - and when to move him elsewhere - will be part of putting those buffs to work.
Join the Generals Beta
The beta opens today on both desktop and mobile! Access will roll out in phases, with more players added in batches each day.
To apply:
- Fill out the beta sign-up form and provide your userID.
- After applying, check the main menu for a Frontline Pioneer section.
- Once that section appears, you have access and can join beta games to start testing.
Beta places are limited. Submitting the form does not guarantee a spot, and not everyone who applies will be able to participate.
As access is added in batches, you may not see the Frontline Pioneer section immediately. Check again as the rollout continues.
Unlock Your First Generals Now
Generals are obtained exclusively through War Crates. To give every player a starting roster, we are introducing the Draft Crate.
You can claim the Draft Crate for free in the shop. It guarantees one Epic General for each of the four doctrines, giving you a commander to use whichever doctrine you play.
This is a permanent starting point for the feature. The Draft Crate will remain available for both existing and new players to collect.
During the beta, you can also expand your roster through the Recruitment Crate. Limited to 40 openings, this crate offers a discounted way to recruit more Generals. Further crates will follow after the beta.
Leveling Up Your Generals
To level up a General, collect more copies of that same General from War Crates. Their detail window shows how many copies you need to unlock the next level.
All Generals acquired during the beta will carry over to the live release, whether obtained for free or through paid crates. Generals you spend Gold to acquire during testing will remain in your account when the feature launches.
Please note! The prices for War Crates and their drop chances are not finalized, and might change with the launch for all players in two weeks.

Help Shape What Comes Next
We want to hear how Generals perform in your hands. Which buffs create interesting decisions? How does deployment fit into your plans? Where does the system need a clearer explanation?
Share your experiences in the official Supremacy Discord and forum feedback thread. Specific examples from your games will help us understand what worked, what felt awkward, and where improvements would make the biggest difference.
We will collect and review your feedback throughout testing and use it to guide further changes.
Not every suggestion or issue raised during the beta can be addressed before launch. The time available before release limits what we can implement during that period. But the work will continue beyond the launch, with further adjustments and improvements informed by your feedback.
What Happens Next?
Over the next two weeks, look out for more details about how Generals work, answers to your questions on the forums, closer looks at their artwork on our social channels, and further updates as launch approaches.
Build your roster, assign your commanders, and decide where their buffs can turn the next battle in your favour.
Apply for the Generals beta for a chance to join testing.
See you on the battlefield!
