Pour yourself a cold beverage: today’s release delivers a strong set of gameplay improvements and bug fixes to Call of War.
We have improved stealth combat behavior following the recent arrival of the Sniper, fixed several urgent gameplay issues, and finally cleared out a number of long-standing bugs. From units fading back into the shadows to nukes behaving as intended, this update is all about smoother and fairer battles.
Stealth Units Return to the Shadows
With the recent addition of the Sniper, we reviewed the combat mechanics behind stealth units. Stealth units are designed to stay hidden from enemies unless certain actions reveal them. This update makes that reveal behavior more precise and easier to understand.
Stacks that contain mixed types of stealth units now reveal only the units that are actually attacking. For example, when a stack contains both Commandos and Snipers, the Commandos will no longer be revealed when only the Snipers perform a ranged attack.
We also changed how long ranged stealth units remain visible after they attack. Stealth units are now only visible for the duration of their attack. This gives them a better chance to fade back into the shadows after striking, making it harder for hostile armies to pursue them once the attack is over.
We are monitoring the impact of this change on unit balance. Your feedback and battle stories will help us assess how these changes perform in live matches.
Major Gameplay Fixes Deployed
This release also includes several important fixes for issues that affected the gameplay experience. Some of these were urgent, while others had been around for longer and are now finally cleared from the battlefield.
The following major gameplay issues have been fixed:
- Fixed inconsistent behavior that prevented units from “jumping” to capture a province center when they were within 5 km of it.
- Restored achievement progress from all event maps, including new event maps released over the last half year.
- Please note that achievement progress currently only counts newly made progress. We are looking into restoring past progress in the near future.
- Casualty statistics in the army bar now again only show losses for the currently ongoing battle.
Nuclear Fallout Corrections
We also took a close look at nukes and their fallout, Area of Effect mechanic. Several issues have been fixed:
- Corrected a bug that prevented nuclear explosions from damaging buildings and province morale when targeting neutral nations.
- Fixed a bug that prevented nuclear fallout from applying its full damage to units.
- This issue occurred when only a small number of enemy units were hit by the fallout.
- Fixed a bug that prevented nuclear fallout damage from affecting province morale.
- Nuclear fallout now damages province morale as intended.
These fixes make nuclear attacks and their effects behave more consistently across different combat situations.
Peace Period and Stealth Exploit Fixes
We also applied a quick fix to make Peace Period behavior more reliable.Should diplomatic relations sour during the peace period, you no longer have to fear your troops getting stuck on enemy territory until the end of the peace period. Troops are now teleported back to within their own borders as intended.
Finally, we fixed a critical exploit related to stealth units. Stealth units can no longer disengage from combat by switching their fire control mode. This correction helps keep battles fair and prevents Snipers and Submarines from escaping their fate.
See You on the Battlefield
Today’s update is focused on making combat behavior easier to understand and more consistent. Thank you for all your reports, patience, and continued feedback!
Commanders, prepare your operations to adapt to these changes - and we’ll see you on the battlefield.
