The maintenance crews have been working across every corner of the battlefield. With today’s release, Call of War received a focused update packed with bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and some much needed shine and polish.

This release tackles a mix of long-standing problems and recently identified critical issues. The result is a smoother, clearer, and more reliable experience across combat, movement, maps, and menus. Whether you are planning a quick speed game or are managing a campaign conquering the entire world, the improvements make your life easier and the gameplay more fun.

Critical Fixes

Several of the most important changes improve how combat information and unit interactions work.

  • A long-standing issue with terrain indicator icons has been resolved. The icons will continue showing the correct terrain type, even during extended play sessions. This should make it easier to read the battlefield and plan around terrain bonuses without needing to refresh the game.
  • Stealth units using Return Fire or Hold Fire can no longer pass through defended province centers.
  • Scout units reveal enemy stealth units reliably again - even when several types of stealth are present in the same army stack.
  • Nuclear detonations now apply their initial blast damage correctly. Province centers caught within the blast radius will receive the intended damage to buildings and morale.

We are especially glad to finally address the issue of the faulty terrain indicators, ensuring that key battlefield information remains accurate and reliable when you need it most. This helps prevent misreads of terrain during critical moments and keeps strategic decisions based on consistent, trustworthy information.

A Smooth Experience Across Every Map

Beyond the critical fixes, this update includes a broad range of improvements to the gameplay experience.

  • Embarkation & naval behavior improvements
    • Units now follow embarkation orders more reliably
    • AI-controlled fleets make smarter, more consistent choices when selecting coastal targets
  • Clearer in-game information
    • Improved accuracy and readability for:
      • Aircraft stats
      • Building details
      • Ability descriptions
      • Speedup indicators
  • Rocket impact polish (and a little drama)
    • Rockets no longer perform an unexpected “bounce” after impact
    • Instead, they now hover ominously while results are calculated
      • Giving everyone below a brief moment to reconsider their life choices

These changes may vary in size, but together they remove friction from many of the actions players perform every day. From issuing orders to reviewing information, the battlefield should now feel noticeably more intuitive.

Return to the Front

This update is all about creating a stronger foundation for your maps. Long-standing visual problems have been cleared away, critical gameplay issues have been addressed, and many smaller annoyances should no longer interrupt your command.
